# Knowledge Center Overview

## Description

The Knowledge Center is a standalone application in LogicNets that can store knowledge content of various types, including text, graphics, PDFs, and URLs. You can use it as a standalone application--a type of library of content--but is most often used in conjunction with another LogicNets application, such as the Assessment Framework. The following are two common use cases for the Knowledge Center:

* Storing centralized additional information that is then linked to specific questions in an assessment to help users understand the question being asked and/or the answer choices.
* Serving as a centralized search or report repository where different articles are presented or written into a report based on user selections in an application.

## Create and Edit Knowledge Center Articles

You can create Knowledge Center articles and organize them into folders in the left pane, like the Project Pane in the Designer.

1. To create a new topic or article, click the Knowledge Center header or the folder where you want to put the topic.
2. Click the *New Document* icon.

3. Enter a name for your article.
4. In the text box, enter the image, text, or link you want to include.
5. Click ***Save*** to save your changes.

## Format Knowledge Center Topics

The content text edit box includes a menu with a number of formatting features, including text formatting options and other feature options as well.

1. **File Upload:** You can use this button to import images, documents, and PDFs. This also gives you the option of displaying the information in a frame or as a clickable link.
2. **Paste as Text:** This button allows you to paste content copied from Microsoft Word. It removes hidden formatting often included in text pasted from Word.
3. **HTML View:** This allows you to view the content at the HTML level so you can manage DIVs, inline styling, and image size, for example.
4. **URL:** This button allows you to add a URL to either a publicly available or internal "intranet" web address.

*Note: Currently, LogicNets does not support media formats, such as mp4. We recommend including a URL link to Vimeo or other video site to connect any appropriate media with your LogicNets application.*

## Knowledge Center Meta Data

In addition to the topic content, you can add additional meta data such as external id or version in free-text fields or by using tags. Tags are useful in applications where you can configure a specific logicnet node to display Knowledge Center articles with a specific tag. You can use this feature, for example:

* To show a map image of a particular store based on the user selecting a store number in the application.
* To show medical content associated with treatment options based on the treatment options being displayed.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://community-test.logicnets.com/release-9/platform-documentation/knowledge-center/knowledge-center-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
