# Link to a Resource in the Knowledge Center Using Tags

## Description

Resources are documents and images in the Knowledge Center, and you can link from the Designer to specific resources so end-users see a document for additional information. There are multiple ways to link resources to a step, and one method is to use the tags feature in the Knowledge Center.

This article walks you through how to use the tags feature when linking resources to your steps. It assumes that you have a project using the Assessment Framework with at least one checklist or radio list and that you have resources posted your Knowledge Center.

Note: Currently, this feature is only available for use in the Assessment Framework.

## Set Up Tags in the Knowledge Center

Before you can link to tags in the Knowledge Center, you first have to enter the tags. To do this, go to the Knowledge Center.

1. In the heading bar in the Knowledge Center click *System*.

2. Click *Meta Tags* from the menu list.

3. Enter the category and tag in the provided fields and click *Add*.

4. Your list of tags will display in the table in the popup. When you have completed entering your tags, click *Close* at the top of the popup window.

5. Click Home in the header bar to return to the Knowledge Center.

## Create Knowledge Center Articles

Create a Knowledge Center article, also referred to as a resource. Once you save the resource you can add meta tags (tags) to it.

1. Once you have saved an article you will see an Add Tags button at the top of the article.
2. Click the *Add Tags* button.

3. Select the first tag you want to associate with your article.

   ![](https://2802811211-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FdFhfexCjZ5JMhwGzzywq%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-22b20fcdf0c54c1b8850e2ba2b8da62f9eb3809f%2Fb6444471-b40e-4807-9eab-302d69dadd31.png?alt=media)
4. Select as many tags as are relevant to the article.
5. When you have finished selecting tags, click the *Close* button at the top of the Tags popup window. You will see the tags you selected at the top of your article.

You have completed the actions necessary in the Knowledge Center, and you can now move to the Designer to make use of the Tags feature in displaying resources.

## Create a Radio List or Dropdown Menu

When you use the Tag feature in the Designer, the system links the options listed in a radio list or dropdown menu to a particular article in the Knowledge Center, which allows you to provide additional information to your end users. To use the Tag feature in the Designer, go to the Basic tab for your step.

1. Begin entering your value/caption pairs for the radio list or dropdown menu. Note: You must make sure that the value for each item in the radio list or dropdown menu exactly matches the tag that you attached to the article in the Knowledge Center. The caption of the item can be different, however, as the system does not use the caption to link to articles.
2. Add as many items as required to create the radio list or dropdown menu.
3. Click save at the top of the page to save your changes.

## Configure the Resources on your Step

To use the Tags feature in your step, go to the Resources tab of the step you created with the radio list or dropdown menu. Tagged resources can be shown at the item level and/or at the question level. See the instructions below for applying each criterion.

### Show Resources at the Item Level

1. Go to the *Resources* tab in the part editor.
2. Select *KnowledgeCenter* from the dropdown menu. The system displays a radio list at the bottom of the screen with options for displaying resource content.
3. Select the option called *My item value matches the tag name*.
4. Enter the tags category in the input field that you used for the articles in the Knowledge Center. Note: The tags you enter must match the tags you selected in the Knowledge Center.
5. Click the ***Add*** button.
6. Save the step.

   ![](https://2802811211-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FdFhfexCjZ5JMhwGzzywq%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-fb9c108ce4d24227cf3aa16605e2e81bb3c31228%2F969276b1-8950-4ed9-819d-1436e8ca0f88.png?alt=media)

### Show Resources at the Question Level

1. Follow the same approach as above, selecting KnowledgeCenter from the dropdown menu. The system displays a radio list at the bottom of the screen with options for displaying resource content.
2. Select the option called *I want to provide a collection with tag names.*
3. Enter the name of the collection in the data object field. You can create a process node just before your form-part node to specify the tags in the collection.
4. Enter the category name associated with the tags.
5. Click the ***Add*** button and save the step (not shown).

### Start Your Application

When you start the application it will show your question with a question mark icon on every option if you used the item-level approach (see below). The system will show a question mark on the far right of the question caption if you used the question-level approach (not shown).

![](https://2802811211-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FdFhfexCjZ5JMhwGzzywq%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-b769470a9054fde8c94abd0ebaf8966b164212f3%2Fc5938614-39ff-4d77-a6ad-0f8a478282ef.png?alt=media)

When you hover your mouse over this icon, the system colors the icon green and displays the resource that matches the value of the option to the tag in the Knowledge Center. The system displays your article on the right side of the screen.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://community-test.logicnets.com/release-9/platform-documentation/nodes-parts-and-resources/link-to-a-resource-in-the-knowledge-center-using-tags.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
